Ashley came up big all weekend with three crucial RBI and forced two key errors with perfect bunt placement. Behind the plate, the eighth grader was flawless with one base stealer thrown out and two assists on bunts. Ashley kept the older opponents in check on the bases all weekend.

A lot was expected of Ashley following Owen Middle's Championship in 2013, especially in terms of experience and leadership from behind the plate. She has provided all of that (throwing out 4-of-5 attempted base stealers). She has also provided the unexpected, leading the team with a .562 BA, having 3 SB, a .611 OBP, and 9 RBI - 4 of them from her first fence-clearing blast, a grand slam.

Ashley does it all.  She hits for power.  She bunts.  She hits opposite field.  She pulls down the line. She is a coach on the field both when she’s catching and in the outfield.  On the bases, she will never be the fastest girl on the team, but she is consistently one of the smartest and most annoying runners you’ll ever see.

The daughter of a coach, Ashley is constantly studying the opposition, looking to exploit any weakness.  In 12U/14U Gold/A-level travel in 2012, Ashley finished the year with a .393 average and eleven extra-base hits in 91 games, along with 57 RBI and a team-leading 35 walks. Ashley drives teams crazy on the bases with her deceptive quickness. With 21 steals in 24 attempts*, she is no slouch in the straight steal, either.

Despite being one of the younger Viper players, having only turned 13 in March, Ashley has adjusted very quickly to playing in the 14U Gold/A division in 2013, as she continues to hit at a .381 clip. With a strong arm and tremendous release, Ashley is being called upon to catch more this year and her understanding of the game and her ability to help her pitchers makes her an invaluable backstop. In the outfield, her strong arm and ability to get to the right spot also make her a tremendous asset.

As a 7th Grader, Ashley helped her middle school team to a 3rd Place Regular Season finish and a Conference Tournament Championship. When her team’s starting pitcher went down with a broken ankle early in the season, Ashley held the team together with her consistency and calming manner. For the year, she led her school in hitting with a .353 average and seven extra base hits, including three home runs.  She scored 23 runs in 15 games and was a perfect 7-for-7 on the base paths.
