Anissa's speed and versatility were on full display during her first HS Showcase. Using slapping, dragging, and power, Anissa hit .462 against girls as much as three years older, including a hard slap up the middle to tie the Championship game. In addition, Anissa patroled centerfield all weekend, with multiple plays limiting base runner advances.

Anissa began the year being selected to Varsity as a Freshman and she hasn't disappointed. After four games, the speedy slapper/centerfielder is hitting a ridiculous .643 (9-for-14) and four RBI. In the field, she has had multiple highlight reel catches for her Owen High School team. She has been a holy terror on the basepaths with eight stolen bases already.

Anissa has one motor and it’s set to “fast”. She covers ground with ease, both in the field and on the base paths.  This shows in her stats, as she used that speed to hit .437 as a slapper in 2012 and steal bases at over 90%, with 71 steals in 78 attempts*. As a testament to her speed, Anissa's batting average with runners on base climbs to .479. The slightest hesitation by a fielder glancing at another base runner is all it takes for Anissa to turn a bunt into a base hit.  Anissa’s game is not limited to drag bunting and slapping.  When the situation calls for it, she shows surprising power, with nine extra base hits in 91 games of 12U and 14U Gold/A competition in 2012, including a game-winning two-out grand slam.

There has been little fall-off in 2013, the first year of full time 14U Gold/A-level ball, as Anissa continues to reach base with a .367 average and a .415 on-base percentage. Defensively, Anissa has a tremendous range, especially when playing back and coming in on the ball. She makes good decisions with the ball in the outfield and returns it to the infield quickly. She possesses above average arm speed.

Anissa finished up her middle school career by helping Owen Middle win a Conference Championship and capped it off with a game-winning triple, turning a slight bobble by the shortstop into the game’s final run. She also finished the season with a perfect 17-for-17 stolen base total.

Anissa was named “Female Athlete of the Year” at Owen Middle School following her 8th Grade season.
