Tweed Dominates Battle of the Border Showcase!
With five Ks in her first two innings of work in the 2014 WNC Battle of the Border Showcase, the tournament director tweeted out "Jaiden Tweed pitching like she wants to win the Rising Star Award". Tweed followed that up with two equally spectacular innings in the circle in Game Two.
Unfortunately, Tweed did not win the Rising Star Award, designated for members of the 2018 class. After the tournament, the director informed Tweed that she wasn't winning that award, even though she earned it, because he couldn't give BOTH awards to the same girl. Instead Tweed received the Silver Slugger Award for becoming the first player in the tournament's seven-year history to blast two bombs! Both of her smashes cleared the centerfield fence. Oh, by the way, she finished with nine Ks in four innings of work, allowing one infield single, against some of the best players in Western North Carolina.
